CSv02.04 is effective for all reportable cases diagnosed 1/1/2012 and forward. Therefore, CSv02.04 will have to be implemented before the processing of any 2012+ cases. After CSv02.04 has been implemented, all cases need to be processed under CSv02.04 regardless of diagnosis year. Please see the individual standard-setter requirements for more specific information.
Review the changes listed in the Release Notes in the support documents tab.
Review section 3.3 of the Implementation Guide for the conversions and specific cases requiring manual review by the registrar.
Download the CS Coding Instructions found in the hyperlinked coding instructions tab. Three formats are available:
Hyperlinked PDF – Part II (schemas) contains hyperlinks that take you to the corresponding rules in Part I Section 1 or SSF explanations in Part I Section 2, enabled for highlighting and sticky notes
Non-hyperlinked PDF – files containing Part I Section 1, Part I Section 2, and Part II, enabled for highlighting and sticky notes
HTML online – available to view through a web browser and contains extra tables not used for coding but which may be helpful for data analysis
Install the software according to the vendor’s guidelines
A Note for Mac Users
Recommendation is to suggest that the user download an app for their Mac that can read chm files.
A Few Suggested Apps
At least some of these are free. That would be the simplest and most economical solution for these low-volume non-Windows users.
Two other suggestions: make sure user knows that they can access the HTML versions of the schemas from the CS website and suggest that user talk to the tech support for their abstracting device about options for installing the manual. The compiled help does need to be installed on the local machine and not a network drive but this depends on the kind of device they are working on and whether they could use the manual from the cloud.
